HOUSEBOAT LAND MOORINGS *Some sites may not be available all year round.

Friendly kookaburras at Sandy BeachSandy Beach. This mooring has a sheltered sandy beach and the clear water of Platypus Bay is great for swimming. Take a walk over the rise in front of your boat to another swimming lagoon with ancient granite rock formations. Or make friends with the resident kookaburras that visit in the late afternoon.

"Pelican" moored at Platypus BayPlatypus Bay. A quiet mooring midweek that transforms into a perfect location for observing the antics of weekend water-skiers. During flowering season, the banks come alive with bright red blooms of the native bottlebrush trees.

Star Gaze from this open mooring site with sweeping southern views. You’ll find this mooring site just to the north-east of Platypus Rock State Forest Park.

Just leaving Turtle Nook after catching a haul of redclaw freshwater crayfishTurtle Nook. This secluded mooring is tucked away at the back of a deep inlet near Red Bank. Timid turtles and other aquatic life also enjoy the tranquil waters.

Another beautiful sunset at Red BankRed Bank. A sheltered mooring with deep water. An interesting walk follows the old sealed road that leads back to the lake through eucalypt forests. This road was flooded when the dam was constructed over 40 years ago.

Grassy Banks on the Fong On Bay Peninsula lead onto the site where an old homestead once stood. During World War 2 there was a military camp around here & many army artifacts have been recovered from this area.

Spectacular scenery with Hoop pine plantations on the port side and rainforest views on the starboard. Note the Spanish moss (Grandfather’s Beard) hanging from the rainforest trees.

On the southern side of Fong On Bay State Forest Park you’ll find a delightful pine forest setting with well-maintained grassy areas and easy access to barbecue and toilet block amenities. Perfect for a BBQ picnic.

On the northern side of Fong On Bay State Forest Park. With barbecue and toilet block access, this mooring also makes a great location for a social picnic with friends.

Kauri Creek State Forest Park. Photo - Karl SeeligAt Kauri Creek State Forest Park, you have access to beautiful walking tracks along the creek as well as barbecue and toilet block facilities. A perfect location to stretch your legs and wander through the magnificent forest.

Treasure Island on a misty mornTreasure Island. Explore your very own private island. This mooring is located past School Point State Forest Park on the north-eastern shore of the island.

Next to School Point State Forest Park is a quiet, secluded mooring with barbecue and toilet block amenities all nearby. Another prime picnic or barbecue dinner spot.

Pine Tree Landing is situated deep into the long inlet south of Fong On Bay, fringed by plantation pine forests & provides a view from afar of our busy weekend water playground. Usually a peaceful mooring during the week.

Enjoy the sweeping Rainforest Views from this enchanting mooring tucked away in the rainforest past School Point State Forest Park, in the farthest reaches of the lake.

Island View. Tucked away in a very tranquil spot beside Tall Tree Island, enjoy the magnificent sunsets over Tobacco Hill silhouetted by an epiphyte in the nearby tree.

Rainforest DreamingRainforest Dreaming. East of Tobacco Hill and distanced from most boating activity, float amidst the beautiful rainforest and flooded forest surrounds. An excellent mooring from which to view the brolgas as they return to the rainforest each evening.

A perfect sunset, where else but Sunset BaySunset Bay. A perfect spot for taking the time to watch the sun set over Lake Tinaroo and contemplate the meaning of life. A favourite night roost for some of the local bird species.

Lofty Pines encircle this quiet, sheltered bay past the Fong On Bay State Forest Park. Keep a watch over the ranges to the north-west, which are noted for UFO activity.

Lily Bay is a calm, sheltered inlet near School Point, surrounded by lily pads & pine forest. A very quiet floating mooring mid-week, protected from windy weather.

On the southern side of Fong On Bay lies a small calm, Peaceful Inlet, fringed with majestic pines. A particularly sheltered mooring, where the mind can easily drift off into daydream or convenient for a quiet siesta after a BBQ.

Brolgas at sunset. Photo - Sture KarllsonNorth of Tobacco Hill, convenient to our base mooring. A good place to catch the brolgas at sunset, particularly if you are planning an early return the next morning.

Gumtree Dreaming. Float above one of the many old World War 2 military camps in this area that pre-existed the construction of Lake Tinaroo.

View from the top deck of "Platypus" near Flooded ForestFlooded Forest lies to the south-east of Tobacco Hill. From this peaceful mooring you have views of the scenic rainforest shoreline, the Southern Cross and a surrounding forest of flooded trees.
