Lake Tinaroo

Spectacular
Lake Tinaroo, the jewel in the crown of the Atherton Tablelands, is just
an hours drive from tropical Cairns. Here, you'll enjoy a naturally
air-conditioned sub tropical climate at an altitude of 670m (2,200ft).
With over 200kms of scenic, constantly changing shoreline, this
fascinating freshwater eco-system is 3/4 the size of Sydney Harbour.
There
are over 300 species of birds on & around the lake including; brolgas,
rainbow lorikeets, pygmy geese, cockatoos, kingfishers & jacana
"Jesus" birds. You can fish year round for world record sized
barramundi, some mangrove jack, black bream, or the local delicacy,
redclaw freshwater crayfish.
Within
this paradise, choose from our many land and floating mooring sites
with rainforest, mountain, pine or eucalypt views. Aboard your houseboat
you can cruise to State Forest Parks with walking tracks & barbecue
facilities. Or experience the beauty, privacy and richness of areas
accessible only by water.
